🌳🌍✨ On December 26, 2023, the future leaders of Lao PDR came together for a full day of learning, engagement, and inspiration during the Youth Climate Training. This vibrant event brought together young minds from all four universities across the country to dive deep into the world of climate change and explore their critical role in shaping policy for a sustainable future.
The training, supported by the UNDP Climate Promise II Project in partnership with the Department of Climate Change under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, aimed to empower the youth to become active participants in the nation’s climate actions. With a day packed full of insights and interactive sessions, the young attendees were introduced to key climate concepts, including the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), which outline the country’s commitment to addressing global warming.
Throughout the day, these passionate students explored how their actions can contribute to Lao PDR’s ambitious climate goals. They engaged in thoughtful discussions, shared innovative ideas, and even participated in a dynamic quiz that challenged their knowledge of climate policies. The energy in the room was electric as these remarkable individuals realized the powerful impact they can have, not just in their communities but on a national and even global scale.
With a spirit of collaboration and optimism, the participants committed to working together to tackle the challenges of climate change and protect the environment for future generations. As one participant said, “We are the generation that will lead the fight against climate change. Together, we can make a difference!”
